Letter to the Industry - May 28, 2008
Hilltop Ranch Vice-President, Christine Long, was selected to serve as the new chairperson of the Almond Board of California. We are pleased to reprint here her letter to the industry:
Working Together
Dear Industry Members,
The Almond Board of California (ABC) is an organization dedicated to promoting the best quality almonds, California’s largest tree crop, and is made up of individuals who are passionate about the opportunity to participate in this endeavor. Through the quality leadership of past Chair Dean Nelson and his predecessors, the ABC has accomplished this and much more over the years.
I look forward to working closely with the new Vice-Chair , Doug Youngdahl of Blue Diamond Growers, as well as the other new and returning board members; Dave Phippen, David Arakelian, John Thoming, Bill Brush, Mike Mason, Wil Hunter, Keith Rigg and Dave Baker.
I appreciate the opportunity to Chair the Almond Board of California during these exciting times. Each year, standards for Food Quality and Safety are raised, Good Agricultural Practices are strengthened, and Good Manufacturing Procedures are reinforced, enhancing the demand for our product worldwide. One great accomplishment of the ABC is the ability of the participating industry members to work together to confront challenges, determine solutions and adapt to change. I’m proud to be part of this dynamic organization.
Sincerely yours,
Christine Long, Chairperson
Almond Board of California
