Per the Almond Board of California position report released today: Shipments reported for May 2005 were 67.3 million lbs. - About 2.8% lower than the figures from May 2004 August 1st-May 31st shipments: - Domestic shipments are up 7.99% - Exports are down by 5.45% Overall shipments for the crop year are down by 1.48%. Uncommitted Inventory: 116 million lbs. Market has been very quiet over the last month. Current crop prices have continued to increase just slightly. Most were expecting much lower shipment figures for June given the current prices and the recent trend in shipments. Today's report should firm up the market for current crop and may bring some interest back for new crop, though most industrial end-users and growers will likely continue to wait for CASS's objective estimate release on June 30th.
